Matt Smith, State Actuary, and Laura Harper, Policy and Research Services Manager, presented the 2009 Pension Funding Check-Up at the June 16, 2009, SCPP meeting. A 2007 report published by the Pew Charitable Trusts identified the funded status of Washington state's pension plans at 79%. This memo on Washington's funded status provides further information and demonstrates that the total funded status for all of Washington's retirement plans is 99%.
